The reaction to Olmsted’s appointment

From what I’ve been hearing, Phoenix’s new bishop, Thomas Olmsted, is an orthodox and faithfilled bishop. The Arizona Republic says he is made in the mold of Pope John Paul II. Looking at all the appointments John Paul has been making since the Scandal began about two years ago, such as Vigneron in Oakland, its looking like the Holy Father is indeed taking upon himself the reform of the Church in America by replacing bishops. He’s just not removing them from their posts; but is waiting for them to retire or step down on their own in most cases.

As the newspaper puts it:

The appointment Tuesday of the Most Rev. Thomas J. Olmsted, bishop of Wichita, Kan., fits a pattern of several recent bishop assignments: a church leader who studied and worked in Rome, is considered orthodox in his belief and faithful to the pope.
