The media isn’t just giving it to the Catholic Church for a sex scandal. They’re also going after that other institution they hate, the military. Specifically, the Air Force Academy.
There have been several cases of alleged date rape and drug abuse. In fact, if you add up all the cases, it’s not more than what you’d see at a typical American university of its size. Of course, a military academy is not a regular university and those who go there to act to a higher standard, just as we expect priests to act to a higher standard. And there was some mismanagement by high officials, just as there was a cover up by bishops.
And, just like with the Church, we can expect to see generalizations about the military that don’t apply and proposed solutions that have nothing to do with root causes. Looks like a pattern of abuse (of power) by journalists.
