Only four of the massive Majesty Class Troop Ships have been built with the first one entering service in 2371. The ships can project thousands of troops, a full division of Marines, into a battlefield using either the assigned shuttles (350 at a time) or its 24 six-pad transporters. In full landing mode, the ships can transport the full complement of embarked soldiers in 4.5 hours. In addition, the ship carries enough combat support supplies to keep a division in the field for a month. These enormous ships represent a massive allocation of resources and only a few could be built, not the least because there are few shipyards that can build them. However, one argument in their favor during the design and construction phase was that, during peacetime, they can be used as colonial transports or for mass evacuations.

Because it is relatively lightly armed, the Majesty class requires escort into and out of combat zones. Tactics dictate that they be preceded into a planetary assault by the Omega class Corvettes, to prepare landing zones and disable transport inhibitors. Because of this conservative approach, none of the ships was lost during the Dominion War, although the Protector was heavily damaged in the Second Battle of Chin’Toka.
