My reaction to US bishops lecturing the Bush administration about war reminds me of 1 Timothy 3:4-5. St. Paul is giving Timothy advice about being a bishop and tells him to keep his own household in order.
He must manage his own household well ... for if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how can he care for God’s church?
With the US bishops seeing their own households in complete disarray over the past year, their moral standing destroyed in the eyes of the people, they have taken yet more steps to alienate themselves from their people.
