I’ve just updated the version of the software that runs this site and it gives me several new features that you should know about:

  • Email server: You can now email me using the link on the “Progile” page. I have a feeling a number of people may have tried to email me that way despite a warning I had there that it wouldn’t work. Now it does. In addition, I can now email members whenever I have something special to tell them, such as a hot new entry just posted. If you are a registered member and don’t want to be emailed for any reason, just let me know and I’ll remove you from the list.

  • TrackBacks: I’m not quite sure whether these are useful or even if they’ll be used. Frankly, since almost everyone still uses Blogger which itself doesn’t allow Trackbacks, it might be of limited utility. But anyone using Moveable Type blogger software can use it, and it’s built in so I may as well put it there.

  • New RSS/XML options: RSS/XML is a special web language that simply put allows you to link to a certain page with special software that tells you whenever a new entry is made and gives you an excerpt. The link is on the left side down below the blogroll, called index.xml. This new version allows more descriptive RSS feeds as well the option to create as many for different purposes as I want.

All in all, the new software from PMachine.com will give me greater flexibility and greater convenience for you. If you see any problems, please let me know.

  • MS, I’m not sure what you mean. Can you be more specific?

RC, I wonder if an RSS/XML feed would work for that. I will try to devise one that does what you want.
