An alleged abuse victim chained himself to Cardinal Roger Mahony’s seat in his cathedral as a form of protest. Mahony was giving his homily when the man jumped in the chair and chained himself in. The cardinal ignored him and police eventually released the man and took him away.
Maybe it wasn’t a protest, but a form of penance. I know it would be penitential for me to be chained in a pew in that ugly cathedral and be forced to endure one of the cardinal’s signature liturgies involving leotard-wearing middle-aged nuns and the attendant assaults on good liturgical sense.
