Perhaps he meant to say “Pushing up daisies”

Perhaps he meant to say “Pushing up daisies”

An actual quote from an Italian news agency on the English portion of its web site.

“Over the last 12 months,” said the current Pope, “we have had five revered cardinals who kicked the bucket: Juan Carlos Aramburu, Jan Pieter Schotte, Corrado Bafile, Jaime Sin and, less than a month ago, Giuseppe Caprio.

Something tells me Pope Benedict used a different phrase than the Italian translator used in English.

  • Heh. Heh. Yes RC, it does mean to pass to the other side or shore.

If he really meant to say 217.42.85.45

Perhaps HH said something more like:
” Vor Zu, the Var is Over!”

(OK. Only teasing; don’t shoot me)

  • Here’s the actual transcript:

‘E’s not pinin’! ‘E’s passed on! This cardinal is no more! He has ceased to be! ‘E’s expired and gone to meet ‘is maker! ‘E’s a stiff! Bereft of life, ‘e rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed ‘im to his chair ‘e’d be pushing up the aisies! ‘Is metabolic processes are now ‘istory! ‘E’s off the twig! ‘E’s kicked the bucket, ‘e’s shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-CARDINAL!!
