I just know spring is coming, but it’s not here today. I woke up to an inch of slushy snow on the ground. Optimistically, I say it could have been worse. The original forecast was for 6 to 8 inches. And 5 years ago we got at least 18 inches on April 1.
For the past several years we’ve had an interesting winter-spring pattern. Spring weather would come early—one February we had a 70 degree day—but wintry weather would return so that we would have cold and rain into June. Last year, we had freezing rain on May 15. Maybe this year we’ll go back to a normal spring pattern.
To counteract the winter blahs, I stopped at Home Depot and picked up all kinds of garden stuff. I’m going to grow hot peppers and various herbs this summer. Nothing like growing some green stuff to make it seem like winter has passed.
