One disturbing aspect of the biography for the new archbishop of San Francisco, George Niederauer, has come to light. Niederauer was spiritual director at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California, from 1972 to 1994. This is the same seminary which the LA Times reported has produced an inordinate numer of perverts for the priesthood since 1950. And Niederauer was there in the midst of it, giving them spiritual direction. No wonder he has nice things to say about gays in the priesthood.

I don’t know how much more info about him we need to get the drift. Maybe BXVI decided to put him where he could do the least damage.
The sooner these types retire off the better we’ll all be.
Hmm. He was the spiritual director from ‘72 to ‘94. That’s not very encouraging. He’s either oblivious to everything around him or he’s one of those who decided to go along and get along. These are not good qualities for an archbishop.
The picture of him with a flock of liturgical dancers in Salt Lake City also does not inspire confidence.
