New Chronicles of Narnia trailer

New Chronicles of Narnia trailer

There is a new trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia movie available and it looks very cool. If you stop some of the quick cuts you can see some interesting shots like ... oh wait, I don’t want to spoil it for those who don’t know the story. Anyway, if you know the story, stop and step through the frames once in a while.

Meanwhile, in the area of cheesy marketing there is this Narnia sermon contest. They’re offering a trip to England for the best Narnia-related sermon submission. It doesn’t seem right to use a sermon (a) as a marketing tool for a movie, no matter how good, and (b) for self-serving reasons rather than the community’s need.

  • Wow – this looks good. I did notice that the trailer says coming this Christmas – not this “holiday season” LOL!

Not so sure about the blatant use of Christianity to “market” this movie. I will write a fine sermon however titled “The Danger of Contemporary Witches” just to try to get a free trip….

  • I love the way Mr. Beaver says “Aslan is on the move.”  I love the animation of Mr. Beaver.  *love* the animation of Aslan.  They’ve done a lot to meet the expectations of those who’ve seen the BBC version—but in both cases, I hate it when a character’s hair color is different in the movie than in the book (I recall that Lucy was supposed to be blonde & Susan brunette).
And loved the little moment featuring Fenris Ulf. . . . I once had an exchange of emails on AOL with a fellow whose screen name was Fenris Ulf.  I assumed he was a Lewis fan, but he said the name came from Norse mythology.  I said, “Well, Lewis loved Norse mythology, so that makes sense.”  He said he’d look into the Narnia books.

The only one that’s gonna take some getting used to is Jadis.  Every drawing, the cartoon version, and the BBC version have all depicted her in a similar fashion, and the movie breaks the mold.

Otherwise, I’m counting the days till Dec. 9!!
