More financial data for Boston archdiocese

The Boston Globe has more details today on the financial situation of the Archdiocese of Boston, especially the impact the Scandal had. The most relevant figure for me is the annual Catholic Appeal, what used to be called the Cardinal’s Appeal. In 2001, it raised $16.2 million. In 2002, it dropped to $9 million, and last year it was only $7.6 million. That’s a decline of more than half in just 2 years. Other donations declined as well, including parish giving, which dropped by 13 percent.
