A 77-year-old Frenchman has been arrested for taking a hammer to what could be considered one of the first pieces of modern conceptual art, “Urinal” by Marcel DuChamp, made in 1917. This was the second time the guy had attacked the urinal. The article doesn’t explain his motivation.
I think he was just pissed.
Maybe he should try a bigger hammer.
Maybe he should visit the Scuotto nativity in Naples as well?
Maybe he should claim his actions were a postmodern Dada piece. The performance art equivalent to “Video Killed the Radio Star.” I’ll bet he could get an NEA grant for it.
