Lynch-saving “Mohammed” granted asylum

The Iraqi lawyer who alerted Coalition forces to the location of PFC Jessica Lynch was granted asylum in the US. The man who was only known as “Mohammed” and is now known to be Mohammed Al Rehaief was granted asylum in the US along with his wife and 5-year-old daughter. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said the US was showing its gratitude for the man’s bravery and compassion. They’ve actually been in the US for a month, but it was only just announced.

After the rescue of Lynch, a group of West Virginia residents formed a group called “Friends of Mohammed” who wanted to thank the man for what he did and they raised money for him and his family. I think asylum, residency, and perhaps citizenship will be a nice reward for the Al Rehaief family.
