The Diocese of Biloxi, Mississippi, has a web site up that contains photos, videos, and reports of the devastation wrought by Katrina on the Catholic Church in that area. Every single building owned by the diocese has been damaged to some degree, and some have been wiped clean off the face of the earth. Even much of the rubble is gone!
Check it out. Let’s not forget all the people harmed by the storm. I’m guessing that most churches won’t be eligible for government assistance (I hope I’m wrong) and so it will be up to the rest of the Church to shoulder the burden of reconstruction.
