Another typical reaction of the media is their impatience. Some guy just asked at a Central Command briefing that since it’s Day 6, can they still say that the Iraqi regime is collapsing? The US government and the Pentagon never said this war would be over in days. That was the media and pundits. In fact, the military was cautioning that this was going to be a long, hard fight. But now that the media’s dreams have failed to materialize they want to blame the military for not living up to their unrealistic expectations. It reminds me of the time my sister had a dream that her husband was mean to her and when she woke up she was mad at him. The poor guy didn’t actually do anything to deserve it, but he suffered nonetheless (but not much).
