How they see O’Malley

I’ve been seeing a lot of media comparisons of Bishop O’Malley and Cardinal Law and frankly I’m getting tired of them. Here is the Boston Globe‘s.

The most common and simplistic comment is that O’Malley is humble while Law was puffed up. And I think that’s just wrong.

‘‘I’ve always told the nuncio that I feel as though Capuchin bishops should be bishops only in the missions, but apparently my advice was not taken…  When you’re a Capuchin seminarian, being a bishop in the United States is not on the radar screen, believe me, especially Boston.’‘

Oh, Bishop Sean, YOU ARE INDEED IN MISSION TERRITORY!!  If there was ever a place that needed the GOSPEL preached LOUDLY and with CONVICTION, it is BOSTON.

Your simple garb and sandals reflect a call to an AUSTERE form of living.  This is an example that truly needs to be set in our Diocese of $80,000 cars in the parking lot and $1 bills in the collection basket.  We in Boston are CONSUMED BY FALSE GODS!!!!

We are desparately in need of CONVERSION!!!

    LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!
