He must have had good homilies

Talk about devotion to your pastor. An Italian town was so opposed to the transfer of their parish to a new priest that they blockaded him for six months. The Capuchins had served their parish for the past 430 years, but the diocese changed the arrangement (no word on whether it was at the Capuchins’ request).

Worse than the blockade, the people tried to brick the former pastor into the monastery to prevent him from leaving! Then they jammed the church doors shut until the police helped the new priest break in.

Something’s not healthy when people are willing to go without the sacraments in order to keep the priest they have. Obviously there’s more to the story, but it sounds like a change was in order.
