The EU is now telling Catholic doctors they must perform abortions. This is the tactic of the radical left. You may not simply tolerate something, while disagreeing with it. You must embrace it and love it. Whether it’s pharmacists in Illinois who don’t want to prescribe contraceptives or abortifacients, city clerks in Massachusetts who don’t want to issue marriage licenses to gays, or doctors in the European Union who don’t want to perform abortions, they have no choice. It’s a good thing we don’t live under oppressive governments that strip us of our freedoms, like those dirty Communists or mean Islamic extremists. It’s a good thing we fought the Cold War so that we could become like the enemy we defeated.
A European Union advisory panel has issued a statement saying that medical professionals are not allowed to refuse to participate in abortions. According to the EU Network of Independent Experts on Fundamental Rights doctors should be forced to perform abortions, even if they have conscientious objections, because the right to abort a child is an “international human right.”

As do I; you would think that the Vatican would remember what happened to Poland when it relied on the good will of the USSR to defend it from the Nazis.

If the Vatican stopped supporting the UN and EU, the repurcusions would probably be worse.
How so? This isn’t the 1930’s, with a militarily pugnatious dictator in power in both Italy and Germany; we’re talking about the Machiavellian manchinations of an entrenched and moribund bureaucracy—and the only way to get them to listen and respect you is to stand up to them and refuse to be bowled over.
