Father Fessio stands up for Benedict

Father Joseph Fessio’s hometown newspaper has done a profile of him, especially concerning his relationship to Pope Benedict and that as founder of Ignatius Press, he is the Pope’s publisher. It adds some interesting detail to his recent appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press.

On Sunday, the fiery Fessio went head-to-head with Tim Russert on NBC’s “Meet the Press” over the pope’s conservative cultural stands involving birth control, sexual habits and the role of women in the church.

Fessio said he thought the talk-show format cheated him in defending the pope, plus he had already had a long day “and several glasses of white wine.”

I think they’re having a lot of fun in the Ignatius Press offices these days.

The Salem News, like a lot of small newspapers, doesn’t keep its links live, but shuffles them off to an archive after a few days. Have to read the blog while it’s hot.

I know I’ve written on Fr. Keohane’s case before. Don’t know why Google doesn’t find and frankly I don’t have the time to dig through several years worth of blog entries to find it.

Did you need the information for something?
