Did you know…

Did you know…

… that there is an official Pontifical Hymn? It is called “The Pontifical March” and is composed by Gounod. You can also a MIDI version of the music.

This and other fascinating information is available on the Holy See Press Office’s Documentation web pages.

There’s also lots of information on the College of Cardinals.

I have to say that the Vatican web site is exceptionally speedy these days. They must have been prepared to radically increase server capacity and bandwidth following the Holy Father’s death. I wonder who’s providing them with the technical capacity.

  • Thanks for the link to the hymn.  I recall it from my uncle’s choir’s use of it—the text is “Ecce Sacerdos, Sacerdos Magnus…” and it was used when the Archbishop came to visit the parish.

I don’t know if my uncle KNEW this was the “Papal Hymn” and was trying to stuff the ego of the Archbishop…
