Defending Msgr. Groden

Defending Msgr. Groden

The Boston Globe continued its defense of Msgr. Michael Groden today. Groden is the priest dismissed from his posts as pastor and head of an archdiocesan affordable housing development agency after an audit turned up financial irregularities. Groden’s supporters, and the Globe, are insuating that it is payback for Groden signing the letter by 58 priests demanding Cardinal Law’s resignation last year.

  • Another interesting feature o’ the story: the lay parish counsel head “didn’t know” that priests weren’t supposed to accept two salaries.

Funny…I thought the lay folks knew everything about Church finances.

‘Nother aside…some of the most orthodox Catholics I know live within the Saint Cecilia parish boundaries. They worship, however, at either (or both) Saint Francis Chapel or Saint Clement’s Eucharistic Shrine, both in the same neighborhood.

I fully admit prejudice, but as for your question, Dom, about it being “as simple as that?” In my opinion, that would be a “yes.”
