Catholic hurricane relief concert

Here’s another local benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina. I hesitate to put up too many local things because I know most people are from outside the Boston area, but maybe it will encourage others to look for similar events in their own area to support. This is from local Catholic musician Jon Niven:

On Friday, September 16th at 7:30pm my band, Crosspollen, and I will be holding a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  The cost is $5 at the door…. less than most meals at McDonalds.

For those of you who don’t know of my band, its a Christian Rock band and we do a bunch of covers as well as originals.  We’ve played around New England for the last year or so.

Another one of our guests is a guy named Ryan Meyers. This concert is especially for him.  He and his wife and daughter lost their home in Mississippi. He is staying with my bandmate Dan and I for a week or so, and then he will be off continuing to do more shows along the tour.  We’re splitting the money that we make with him and Catholic Charities.

The show is at

XAVERIAN BROTHERS HIGH SCHOOL
800 CLAPBOARDTREE STREET
WESTWOOD, MA 02090

If you can take a night out of your life to come help out the people that have been devastated by this, please do.  It’s not too much to ask.

If you can’t make it, and would like to donate to either Catholic Charities or to help fund this concert, please email me back or call me at 781-492-2128.
