This will be an important election for Massachusetts this November. With the fallout still falling from the failure of the state Legislature to stand up for marriage this year, especially a number of supposedly Catholic lawmakers, a number of orthodox Catholic candidates are challenging them this year. Among them is Bob Joyce, who is opposing state Senator Marian Walsh in the Suffolk and Norfolk district. Walsh would not vote to protect marriage and so she’s being challenged by Joyce, an independent.
I also know that Republican David Schnaider is challenging state Senator Robert Antonioni in the Worcester district on the same grounds. Can anyone give me the names of other candidates making similar challenges in Massachusetts?

I haven’t been hanging out at blogsites much lately in large part because I am – along with my cousin, and fellow Bettnet-er, Anastasia – hard at work on Bob Joyce’s campaign! Bob is a great guy and definitely on the right side of social issues and taxes.
For anyone who is interested, in- or outside the district, there is going to be a rally/fundraiser for Bob on Saturday, October 16, at the American Legion Post in Dedham.
Senator Walsh is a six-term incumbent, of course has a large Democrat machine behind her, and is very well-funded (with most of her funding coming from outside the district). Bob has alot of support, however, because he is running an excellent campaign, and because there is so much disaffection with Marian these days. Not only is she on the wrong side of the marriage issue, she did something unbelievably anti-democratic by trying to deny us a vote on it.
This is of course a huge challenge, and anyone who can help out with Bob’s campaign in any way is more than welcome! Please try to make the event on October 16th if you live in the area.
