Cardinal George out of surgery

Cardinal Francis George of Chicago came out of his cancer surgery and is doing just fine.

The cardinal underwent a procedure today at Loyola University Medical Center to remove his bladder in hopes of conquering a cancer that experts called unpredictable and potentially aggressive.

“I’m happy to report good news,” said Myles Sheehan, one of the cardinal’s physicians.

“The cardinal is doing well after approximately five hours in surgery.”

  • I’m glad for this – the cardinal is a good man and a good shepherd.  God grant him a long life.

I do have a question.  Color me ignorant, and don’t be offended, but how does one actually live without a bladder?  When they said he was being operated on I didn’t realize they removed the entire organ.
