Blog housekeeping question

Blog housekeeping question

A reader of CWN’s Off the Record said she finds the use of italics and indentation in quotes in posts make it hard to read the blog. Something about all italics are off-putting and tend to make her want to skip the passage. So I’m asking here if people find that the use of extended italics make a quote less likely to be read or do you find that using them with indentations make it easier to distinguish quotes from my writing. In the preceding post I entered a quote without italics for comparison. Let me know, please.

  • So you would prefer straight Roman. I keep forgetting that not everyone sees the page the same way I do. Mac OS X smooths the screen fonts so I don’t see the “jaggies.” Anyone else?

Seeing that screenshot makes me think I will do without italics, except for emphasis.
