Author of sex abuse policy is accused

One of the priests who co-authored the US bishops’ guidelines on dealing with sex abuse was himself accused of sexual abuse. Fr. Gregory Ingels of San Francisco was one of four priests chosen to advise the bishops on sex abuse. Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of San Fransico has known since 1996 of the allegations of abuse from 1972. So why did the archdiocese let him serve on this panel writing the guidelines; didn’t they think that might be a conflict of interest?
