It is “friends of Dom in the news” week. A pal who happens to be an air traffic controller at Logan Airport is in the newspaper today because he’s receiving an award for preventing a crash at Logan last year. Kevin Winn and another controller stopped an airliner full of passengers rolling down a runway for takeoff when a FedEx cargo plan wandered into its path. It would have been a disaster.
Kevin’s a great guy and a great Catholic husband and dad. I went to World Youth Day with him in the Boston pilgrimage in 2000 and we also went on retreat together in 2004. He’s a good friend of my brother. It doesn’t surprise me that Kevin would have been involved in such heroic action. Good going Kevin!
