Interesting. President Bush’s daughter Jenna is making the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage. In the photo, her friends are wearing the traditional seashell, although she is not. It doesn’t say whether she’s making the pilgrimage for religious reasons, but I hope she is and that she finds it spiritually enlightening. May the Holy Spirit enter her heart and mind and lead her to the Truth.
I thought you wore the seashell to show you had completed the pilgrimage but honestly I don’t know. My sister did this pilgrimage without proper footwear and it was quite, um, penitential. She compared it to Saint Francis talking about perfect joy.
It was neat to hear of her making this pilgrimage. I am wondering if that (seashell) is what she might be holding in her hand?
Her Secret Service detail may enjoy the exercise as well.
