A Great Fourth

Fourth of July celebrations in Salem are always fun and stirring. Read the comments on yesterday’s post and Tom Fitzpatrick’s blog to see what we thought. Apart from minor quibbles of music selection, it was a lot of fun. There was a big crowd, the weather was perfect—warm with a slight landbreeze—and the fireworks were awesome. This year they lit them off from the end of Derby Wharf in the harbor, so they were almost directly overhead. (The first photo on that page is taken from the end of Derby Wharf looking toward land.)

Since I had to work yesterday, today will be the more traditional celebration: a barbecue. This one will be in Gloucester near the beach with about 20 friends and their kids. Should be a fun time. Have a great weekend everybody.
