In some ways Pat Tillman is no different from any of the other American heroes who have given their lives in service to the country. But in other ways he’s different.
Tillman was killed in action in Afghanistan on Thursday. He was a former NFL player who walked away from a starting position as an Arizona Cardinal and a $3.6 million contract to enlist in the Army following 9/11. He became a Ranger, with the express purpose of hunting down al Quaeda.
And lest anyone think it was all a publicity stunt, Pat refused to give interviews or talk to the press about his decision. He just knew he had a duty to perform. He did it admirably.
RIP and HooauH. A hero the same as any other of our brave men and women. God grant them safety and your grace.
Thanks, KMca79. That was exactly what I wanted to say.
Pat Tillman was a true american hero. We all owe him a debt of gratitude.
