Federation Fan Fiction presents ... Home
The USS Timberwolf is commanded by Captain Cesar Maxwell, a 23-year veteran of Starfleet. The Akira Class ship is his second command, having previously been in command of the USS Warsaw, a Norway Class frigate.

The stardate is 55000 and the year is 2377. Just a few days earlier all of the Federation had cheered the news of the dramatic return of Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant. Less than two years before that had been the end of the most destructive war in history, the Dominion War. Now Starfleet and the Federation and the other Great Powers of the two quadrants had determined to return to a normal existence. Starfleet was returning to its first principles, away from warfighting and back to peaceful exploration.

Captain Maxwell was one officer pleased to be returning to that existence. He had been assigned command of the battlecruiser Timberwolf, but rather preferred to think of it as a capable explorer, not too unlike the great Galaxy or Sovereign class ships. With an eclectic crew inherited from his predecessor and a newly upgraded and refitted starship, Maxwell set out on a new adventure to expand the bounds of knowledge, to extend peace and friendship wherever the hand of the Federation would reach, and to step beyond the familiar in search of the new.

** WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW **
For its first mission, the Timberwolf is assigned to the Romulan Neutral Zone, patrolling the border with the Federation's uneasy ally. During the war, they had fought side-by-side and many had hoped that the experience would bring the walls and the Cold Warrior policies. Unfortunately, the Empire's politics remained essentially unchanged, that is diametrically opposed to the principles that the Federation stood for, and that caused tension and stress between the two. Many waited and hoped and feared what should result from the struggle - a new openness between the two powers or a deeper plunge into the Cold War they had engaged in earlier.

En route to that first assignment, the Timberwolf is waylaid by a call for help from a nearby planet. A group of starship thieves had struck and police vessels were in pursuit. Unfortunately they were unable to catch the speedy stolen yacht and the Timberwolf offered to join the chase. The mysterious femme fatale leading the gang unexpectedly destroyed the yacht, using the chaos to hide her escape. Continuing the pursuit using old-fashioned doggedness and daring and 24th century detective work, Maxwell and his crew eventually caught up to the gang and captured them. But the woman was not so easily constrained ....
