I’ve just received word that Cardinal Francis George of Chicago is scheduled to undergo surgery for bladder cancer tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 7 am. Please say a prayer for him.
The announcement was just made today and was unexpected, although the diagnosis was made last week and his family and certain officials of the archdiocese were informed at that time. The Vicar General, Fr. John Canary, will be running things while the cardinal is recovering. He is expected to make a full recovery.
I am keeping Cardinal George in my prayers in hope that all will be well with him and that he will fully recover. His vocation in the Archdiocese of Chicago in not an enviable one. He will need all of his strength and God’s help to manage the immense problems here.
