As tomorrow’s big announcement in Boston looms closer, Voice of the Faithful has realized that the big news right now isn’t the Scandal, but parish closings. Thus, in order to remain relevant and visible in the media, they’ve jumped on the bandwagon. And as usual they’re the most asinine things about the situation.
For one thing, they want to stop the closing process and to do that they’re hinting the Archdiocese may be in violation of the law. Get this:
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston was founded by an act of the Legislature in 1897, according to [John] Hynes, [chairman of the steering committee of Boston VOTF], and his organization is “looking into whether the archdiocese is in any kind of violation of that act.”
The Democrats will do anything to make the Catholic Church look ‘intolerant’ and ‘backwards,’ so that can champion baby-murder unencumbered. Meanwhile, McCarrick will do anything to avoid being intolerant of championing baby-murder. It’s a perfect match.

The Bernadin “Enneagram” Catholics really have no other place to go even if angered at the Church for finally taking a just and moral stand against the Party of Abortion (and those Republicans who also advocate by vote and action for the murder of innocent unborn infants). The The liberal Episcopalian churches are becoming congregations of their choirs and mainstream Protestants are quickly becoming Korean.
Where else could these people find those “Peace and Justice” committees that spend their time lamenting what an injust society America has become?
The Church cannot lose on this. And even if it could, it should. Otherwise the Passion and Death of Our Lord is so much rhetoric in the mouths of pastors more interested in building new parish centers. As for Cardinal McCarrick, he is quickly becoming obsolete.
Hey John Hetman – You know, for the first time in a long time, there are Catholics fed up and willing to speak up against the total meaninglessness and/or evil acts of their leaders. The youth of the Church – that small remnant in the US that today actually embraces the Church (and understands its significance) and who are turning their lives to Christ are going to insist on real Catholicism… – unlike the last generation of moral and spiritual rebels. The liberal, heterodox wacky tunes that have been leading this Church have given us 1) a homosexual holocaust that preyed on kids; 2) a dumbed down and ignorant laity; 3) total vapidness in our worship; 4) a quiet embrace of infanticide in our country; 5) a dearth of new vocations; 6) and a full-blown cynicism and loathing amongst the Catholic laity that have not turned away; and 7) of course, and most sad of all, the loss of millions upon millions of souls to Christ. The tide is turning, and the apostatics are frightened and unsure – for for the first time in a long time, some within the Church are demanding real, full-blown, virile and sure Catholic orthodoxy. The rapes of thousands of boys by priests was the last straw for many. The stinking mass of Corinthian moral license in our Church is going to be washed away – though it will be tough, and it clings to the church like rotting seaweed to a rock. It’s time to reclaim this Church for Christ – and among other things, that means calling evil evil – especially with regard to the bloody murder of millions of innocent human lives. Those who cannot countenance that are called to turn their faces and consciences toward Christ. Those who cannot bear what they see will always be called to the Church; but they will no longer be allowed to poison and defile it from the inside out.

Well, Sinner, I think that you are right although we face a crucible here in this country from secular and anti-religious sources. And we includes faithful, devout Protestants, Orthodox Christian, Jewish Orthodox and Catholics.
For real glimpse at the allies of the anti-religious, look to the heterodox so-called Christians and Jews themselves. The former gave up on Christ and the Gospel; the latter on the Torah and tradition.
Let us be forewarned and prepared for a fight—the likes that we haven’t seen since 1776.
Few issues are as black or white as this. For a Cardinal or Bishop to give the impression that this issue is open to discussion is crazy, scandalous. Nobody is forced to be Catholic, but if you are, this issue is non negotiable. Your soul is at stake. To be a high profile politician and to proclaim that your personal conscience overrules the authority of the Church on this issue must be clearly and publicly challenged by those in authority. Failure to do so is akin to complicity. It is a no brainer.

That’s a flawed rationale. Scripture says a husband and wife belong to each other, and each has rights to the other:
“2But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. What the letter did was provide a convenient escape hatch for McCarrick and his task force where they can say that they have no choice but to recommend that such sanctions not be used, lest Catholics be forcibly ejected from public life by the shadowy hordes of anti-Catholics bigots waiting in the wings.Most of the anti-Catholic bigots I know of are listed on the Democrat Party’s web site as affiliated groups. Maybe the Catholic Dems should be re-thinking their party affiliation if that’s what they’re really afraid of.

Isn’t it nice to be in a Church so secure, so rightly-admininstered and soundly shepherded, that one’s bishops can spend hours, days, even weeks mulling over such “liturgitrivia”?
I shudder to think what it must be like to live in a Church whose stewards engage in such pasttimes while there is widespread ignorance of, or even dissent from, essential Church teaching, or where the Church herself is ignored and villified by the world as a whole. That would be really tedious!

There was a big to-do in our parish among the priests a couple of years ago about whether chalices which hold the blood of Christ could be crystal – or whether they had to be gold… In the meantime, they studiously ignore abortion, the sodofication of society, the breakdown of the family and the embrace of divorce, XXX pornography pouring into our kids’ computers, kids getting ready for Confirmation who don’t even know three of the 10 Commandments and who can’t recite the Lord’s Prayer, and of course, the whole homosexual molestation scandal. BUt with chalices, they’re on top of it….
Actually, that debate is not a bad thing. So goes the Liturgy, so goes so much else. How a priest treats the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of the Lord will give you an idea of how he will treat other sacred things. And the Church has been very clear that chalices must be made of metal, and must be at least lined with gold. A priest who is cavalier with that…
