Boston Herald loses good editor and reporter

One man’s promotion is a loss for the rest of us. Eric Convey, the senior executive city editor at the Boston Herald has left the newspaper to become managing editor at the Boston Business Journal. During the height of the Scandal, I found Eric’s reporting on the Church and related matters to be fair and unbiased, and as executive city editor I know that he has continued to try to treat the Church with respect by giving it appropriate coverage and treatment. He was only one man at a big organization so not everything the Herald did was perfect (e.g. the front-page headline and article on the Boston Catholic Men’s and Women’s Conferences). Still, he’ll be missed.
