New blog

First there was the parody and then there was the real alternative..

I’m liking Fr. Guy Selvester’s take on the goings-on in the Vatican, providing a measured and orthodox look at the events there, especially surrounding the curia. For example, he lets us know that it’s no big deal that Pope Benedict’s mitre still bears his old coat of arms, since in fact they remain his coat of arms. (Fr. Selvester is an expert in heraldry.) And he puts a damper on the adulation meted out upon Archbishop Piero Marini and his continued presence in his role of master of pontifical ceremonies.

I think “Shouts in the Piazza” is going to make a nice “fact-checker” for the other Vatican-watcher blogs.
