Unaccountable Massachusetts Legis-weasels adjourn without vote on marriage
Lies, lies, and more lies. They spit in your face and tell you it’s raining. Who am I talking about? Our newly re-elected Massachusetts legislators have once again adjourned the Constitutional Convention without taking up the marriage amendment. Despite their promises to deal with this on the up and up, despite the leadership’s promises of a vote, and despite their constitutional duty and the requirements of the law, they once again adjourned, setting January 2 as the new date. This is the second time they’ve done this. There’s no good reason for it, except that with each delay they get closer to killing it.
And rather than having the courage, fortitude, and just plain stand-up-guts to put their name on the line and vote one way or another—and thus be held accountable—they weasel their way out. They’re a pack of weasels. Disgusting.
The House and Senate, meeting in a special joint session, recessed before taking up a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would have limited the legal definition of marriage to the union between one man and one woman. Lawmakers voted to adjourn the session until Jan. 2, the last official day of the legislative session.
... Because lawmakers didn’t formally adjourn the so-called Constitutional Convention, legislative sources said, it could prevent Governor Mitt Romney, an outspoken opponent of gay marriage, from ordering the Legislature back into session over the next two months, which he has the power to do.
I don’t know what’s more disgusting: the legislators who act like an oligarchy, ruling without any regard for the voters’ wishes or the law, or the voters who keep putting them back in office. On the other, there are probably plenty of voters like me who had no option. Both my Senator and Representative ran unopposed. How are you supposed to hold these guys accountable.
N.B. Before you “Romney created gay marriage” guys get going, yes, I recognize your argument, but I also believe that voting in a Constitutional Convention as required by law is important regardless of whether the underlying ballot question is sound.

They broke the law…at least two laws. People look at me oddly when I say this, but I think they should be held legally accountable.
On the other, there are probably plenty of voters like me who had no option. Both my Senator and Representative ran unopposed.
On the contrary my good friend… You did have an option!
YOU could have run in opposition to them!
My friend Lonnie (I was his campaign manager) lost 58%-42% to a two term incumbant. Because of the number of unopposed races (like yours), the campaign organizations of those unopposed “social liberals” rallied behind his opponent. Barry Fingold’s entire organization was campaigning for his opponent!!
So while there were options, now there are only excuses.

Wow! If you think this fight is just about same-sex marriage, I’ve got news for you. Hope you don’t plan on sending your kids to public school.
Did you hear about the third grader whose class (in Newton) had a talk by a transgendered something or other?
They’re 2 fronts in the same war…
