    The new Richmond bishop

The commenters at Amy Welborn’s blog give their impressions of the new bishop of Richmond, Virginia: Bishop Francis DiLorenzo of Honolulu. If what they say is accurate, it appears that the Pope’s new track record of appointments since the Scandal broke continues. He sounds like a good bishop in the mold of Olmsted, Burke, and Vigneron. Certainly an improvement on Bishop Sullivan, whose extremely liberal priests I was able to experience in person on several vacations in the diocese.

For everyone who has claimed that the Pope is ignoring the problems in the US, these appointments may be proof that he isn’t.
