Good coverage from a newspaper

We so often criticize the mass media for unfairly protraying the Church, but I thought I would give recognition to a good article that treats the Church fairly. In today’s Boston Herald, reporter Eric Convey reports what we’ve been saying for a few days now: the “smoking gun” is a “smoke screen.” Convey has been one of the best local reporters in covering the Scandal so I’m not surprised he was the one to treat it so well.

An interesting part of the story is that Fr. Thomas Doyle says that the characterization of the document as a Vatican blueprint for cover-up is unfair. The news reports I saw originally said that the document had come from him in the first place. Now I wonder if that was accurate or whether he is trying to distance himself from the cover-up nonsense.
