A play on the cardinal’s words

A play on the cardinal’s words

A Chicago theater is producing a play based on the depositions of Cardinal Bernard Law. The repertory theater is presenting “Sin: A Cardinal Deposed,” which features the depositions provided word for word.

“He’s taken the deposition and laid it out in a theatrical format,” said Bailiwick Artisitic Director David Zak. “There’s no made up dialogue and I think that gives it a lot of power and a lot of weight.”

I can’t think of a more boring night out at the theater, unless you had someone sit on stage reading from the phone book.

I have to wonder what the real point behind this will be. I suspect that the aim will be to mock the cardinal and the Catholic Church. How will they act it out? What will the costumes be? What will the sets look like? It probably will be just another blasphemy. The Church is such an easy target; it’s not daring to attack it any more.

  • There is no connection between bad plays and homosexuality. It’s a complete coincidence.

Look, PMC. Why must patriarchalist homophobes like yourself think “Naked Boys Singing” prompts bad thoughts? What is wrong with singing.

Besides Oscar Wilde had a wife. As did Shakespeare. And it’s absolutely unheard of and impossible for the males of the LGBTQ community to be interested in breeders. Do not do a Google search for “straight, guy, first, time, and sex.” I said do NOT do such a search. It’s urban legend. All 1.3 million hits.

  • We did preview performances of SIN: A CARDINAL DEPOSED this weekend.  Several victims of abuse attended, and were amazed and moved by these events when seen on stage. I hope people will attend the performances which start in Chicago on March 2.  My hope is to provide another outlet for people to comprehend the events and people involved in this complex case.
